Birdie Cottage

Birdie Cottage is the ideal place for a relaxing getaway with your closest friends.

Spend the evening on the spacious back deck grilling up a delicious meal with the sparkle of fairy lights just overhead and millions of stars in the distance. The outdoor dining table provides a place for not only a meal, but also a game of cards, a few beverages, and laughter while making memories. The surrounding nature, including mature trees, will make you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.

Located just a 1/2 mile from the center of downtown Saugatuck, you'll never be short of things to do. Shops, restaurants, ice cream, parks, and people-watching are all just an easy stroll away. Birdie Cottage is also located across the street from the bike path which extends south into Douglas and north all the way to Grand Haven. If you're after Lake Michigan beaches and the sand between your toes, we have that too! The Saugatuck Dunes State Park, with hiking trails and beautiful beaches, is an easy 3-minute car ride or 15-minute bike. The Oval Beach and Douglas Beach are also easily accessible with just a 7-minute drive.

You will fall in love with the interior of Birdie Cottage. Enter through the huge screen porch, with relaxing chairs and outside dining, to a great room complete with soaring ceilings. The comfortable living room furniture and Smart TV is perfect for kicking back and watching a movie. The equipped kitchen with stainless appliances also has an island with snack bar seating. The farmhouse sink with an oversized window overlooking the backyard provides a sweet touch of character.

The unique primary bedroom is a lofted space with a large queen bed. The separate den off the living room provides extra sleeping on the day bed with a trundle that can be set up as 1 twin, 2 twins, or 1 king. The full bathroom in this home is a true treasure. With stone flooring, farmhouse-style lighting, and a claw foot bath, you'll love your time here. For a real treat, sink into a tub full of bubbles and watch the trees out the adjacent picture window.

Birdie Cottage is a magical place to get away - you'll want to return again and again!

Please Note
  • The bathroom has a door for privacy, but no other rooms do. Both the lofted bedroom and the den are open to the main living area.
  • Heating is central throughout the house. Air conditioning is provided by a wall unit in the living room that cools the entire cottage.
  • There are no window coverings in the living room. Most windows have trees just outside them, but you can see the neighboring house in a few places.
  • The den has an Ikea Hemnes day bed with a trundle. This can be set up as 1 twin, 2 twins, or 1 king.
  • There is no cable service provided. There is a Smart TV so you can stream all your favorite apps. Please remember to log out before your departure.
  • The fireplace is not available for use.

We loved our stay at the Birdie Cottage! As other reviewers have shared, the loft bedroom and the stairs up there are pretty sloped and narrow so if you have any mobility concerns at all Id be careful! For my husband and I, it was not much of an issue. Aside from that, this property is absolutely incredible. The living area is spacious and cozy at the same time, with a fully functional kitchen and a comfy couch. Both the screened in front porch and the fenced in back yard made it easy to enjoy the nice weather and keep our dog from running amok at the same time. We would love to stay at the Birdie Cottage again!

Great stay! This was in a nice spot close to town but it felt very tucked away. The hosts were very responsive and helpful.

This space is so charming and delightful. You really feel secluded, even though everything worth seeing in Saugatauk is a stones throw away. Mill Pond Realty is very thoughtful about ensuring you have everything you need. We would revisit in a heartbeat.

We booked the Birdie Cottage to get a change of scenery. Saugatuck is just a little over an hour from home, but this little cottage and the town made us feel like we really got away. The cottage is so cute and had everything we needed to cook and relax. The kitchen is great. We brought firewood and had a fire going nearly the whole time during our stay. We were brought our 4 month old Golden Retriever puppy along for hiking and walks so the fenced yard was great! Its an easy ~10-15 walk to town and just a 5 minute drive to Saugatuck Dunes State Park. Theres a bike path that could take you there too. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the loft sleeping space is a little tight, height wise. We wondered if it could be reconfigured so the bed isnt under the lowest part of the ceiling. Its still cute though and the bed was comfortable. Would love to enjoy the screened porch and deck in warmer weather.

We loved our stay at the Birdie Cottage. We brought our dogs who enjoyed the walks around town and nearby hiking. The house was the perfect size. We came in late November so the ability to have a fire at night was a huge plus. We really loved your space and sincerely appreciate your help with the landscapers. All around this was a wonderful stay for us. Thank you!

This house is an absolute gem tucked away in the pines. Its like an extra large tiny house. We visited over a snowy winter weekend and the space & location really delivered! We enjoyed cooking and eating (and cleaning up!) in the beautiful kitchen with the big picture window looking out at the snow. The large butcher block table was great for playing board games and enjoying meals. The fireplace was a big hit as well, we barely needed to turn the television on as we preferred to watch the fire! We brought our own bedding, I do suggest that you do as well, including pillows. All the bedding here is very standard and I feel we wouldnt have been quite as cozy without those comforts. This house is exactly as described location wise, right down the street from all of Saugatucks shops and restaurants. We had a wonderful time walking from the house to Downtown several times, there is a large sidewalk path. I highly recommend this house and would absolutely stay again!

The Birdie Cottage was the perfect fall getaway for our family of 3. Our daughter was quite comfortable in the downstairs bed and my husband and I were cozy in the loft. The space was so cute and very private as well. You are so close to everything downtown and taking a walk to town was the highlight of the days. Would love to experience the Cardinal Cottage in the summer as well.

Great space for my little family of three! The upstairs loft had enough space for our travel crib and we used the front room as a staging area for our luggage. We loved the furnishings and kitchen. Both the bathroom and front room were pretty dark, but the rest of the house had plenty of natural light and fixtures! We really enjoyed our time.

The Birdie Cottage was quaint, cozy, and exactly as described. If youre looking for a great place to spend some quality time with a significant other, this is a great place to do it. This place manages to meld privacy with a fantastic location. The house is a 15 minute walk from everything in Saugatuck, but you would never know it sitting next to the fireplace. The back deck was a great place to sit and eat breakfast as the sun came up, and the kitchen provided great space for cooking throughout the weekend. My wife and I will definitely be back during the summertime. Check-in was very easy, and the Mill Pond staff was very responsive with a number you can text for questions at any point during your stay. Would definitely recommend this place. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay in the Birdie Cottage. Thanks for being a great host.

Birdie Cottage was the perfect weekend getaway. With a fast-paced and always-busy lifestyle in Chicago, its hard to measure just how valuable a quiet weekend away can be. This house was perfect; we went through 8 bundles of firewood and cooked a great dinner every night in the lovely kitchen. Upon arrival, the whole place was spotless and took great care in its purpose as a rental. Mill Pond Realty gave us tips and recommendations in town, all of which were easily walkable from the great location of the house. The dogs loved the fenced backyard and ability to stretch out by the fire, and an empty (and clean) refrigerator meant we could stock up for elaborate meals. Nice touches like a Sonos and record player (complete with a perfectly eclectic selection) finished it off nicely. We will be renting this house a few times a year moving forward. Our first experience will be tough to improve on but between this house and the hospitality that was provided, I see no reason to look elsewhere
