Bluffside at Groesbeck Beach

Enjoy endless days along the shores of Lake Michigan on Groesbeck Beach's private 255' of Lake Michigan frontage. Tucked back, this cove of frontage boasts higher protection from erosion and offers a wide beach* to enjoy. Peacefully nestled on a dramatic, nature-filled bluff above Lake Michigan, Groesbeck Beach welcomes you with the solace, quiet, and privacy you seek.
Located in pastoral Glenn between Saugatuck and South Haven, you and your guests will find yourselves somewhere back in time as you approach the expansive compound sitting majestically at the end of a winding, coast-hugging road where it is not unusual to see a gathering of deer lazily grazing.

The property’s rich history is palpable and goes back more than 100 years. Originally built in 1903 by the Chicago Diocese of the Episcopal Church as the summer home of the Girls’ Friendly Society—a haven for young ladies who would arrive at the nearby fruit docks by boat to enjoy crafts, games, and socializing away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The property is home to two unique structures, Pine Lodge and Bluffside, both extensively updated and modernized in 2021 while retaining their historic character. Rent them together for large gatherings or separately for more intimate stays; both enjoy convenient access to 255 feet of pristine fresh-water beach. After a day at the beach, spend the evening playing lawn games or roasting s'mores around your fire pit on the expansive lawn overlooking Lake Michigan.

Spend a day or two in downtown Saugatuck or South Haven—both only 11 short miles away—to immerse yourself in the local flavor of eateries, boutiques, art galleries, and more. Just a short bike ride away, you'll find an assortment of orchards, wineries, and Waypost Brewing - one of the best up-and-coming breweries in the state.

Unlike any property in Michigan, Groesbeck Beach is sure to leave you with lasting memories and the desire to return again and again.

*Please Note:
  • This property was designed with a rustic-camp-with-modern amenities vibe! The original wood floors show many years of love including paint splatters - just the way we like it! Floors are uneven and there is no AC. However, the views and sounds of Lake Michigan just out your door cannot be beat!
  • This property is perched on the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. The breeze off the lake brings with it remnants of lake water and sugar sand beach. Due to this, the floors get sandy quickly (within a couple of hours of vacuuming).
  • The surrounding trees provide shade and help bring in the breeze. They are also home to a vibrant ecosystem. The home is professionally treated for pests monthly, but a few bugs and sometimes a bat or mouse are to be expected.
  • There is no central air conditioning. However, there are multiple ceiling fans throughout and the most amazing breeze off the lake. We recommend opening the sliders and windows to the screen porch to let the breeze in.

Fabulous screened porches. Waking up in the morning to sound of waves lapping and birds singing was a real treat.

The house is on a beautiful street and right on the Lake. There is a fantastic path to walk down to the beach. And the view is terrific. Its an older house but the rental company has kept it in good shape. There are four large bedrooms and the place is plenty big for a large group. If you are looking for a nice place on Lake Michigan, this is a good place.

The view is immaculate. Our favorite perk was cooking dinner on the beautiful new stovetop and eating on the screened in patio watching the sunset. The beach area was filled with lady bugs and beautiful rocks. Our 5 year old absolutely loved it. Planning our next visit with the rest of the family utilizing the other rental across the road. We had a wonderful stay! The place is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. Mill Pond was very responsive and there for anything that we needed. We had a wonderful stay and very happy with everything!

We recently had the pleasure of a four night stay at the Bluffside and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The renovations expertly balance the preservation of the historic and rustic character of the building. We also enjoyed the amenities such as a modern and functional kitchen and an entertainment system that allowed both young and old to remain connected and engaged. The screened porch affords a beautiful view of the lake, with picturesque sunsets at the end of each day accompanied by the constant sound of waves breaking on the beach. All in all, a delightful place for a relaxing getaway!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the delightful Bluffside cottage on the shore of Lake Michigan. It had all the necessary amenities, while maintaining its rustic charm and get-away-from-it-all feel. (The best was lying in the comfy bed at night, listening to the waves lapping on the shore). Im sure our grandkids would say, though, that the private beach was their favorite, and we took full advantage, ending perfect days with roasting smores around the expansive fire pit. Thank you for a wonderful vacationwell be back!
