Chapman’s Chapter is an outstanding lake home with space for your entire group. The secluded, wooded setting makes you feel like you have your own private retreat. Relax on one of the four balconies or the bluffside deck and marvel at the magnificent sunsets while grilling dinner and making memories.
Inside Chapman’s Chapter, soaring ceilings grace the living room along with a seasonal wood-burning fireplace, Smart TV, and a wall of windows overlooking Lake Michigan. The main level primary bedroom and bathroom are convenient for those who do not wish to do stairs. Four generous bedrooms and three full bathrooms can be found on the upper level. Two of the upper bedrooms have their own private balcony overlooking Lake Michigan. All this space allows your group to have privacy while still spending time together.
The beautiful kitchen was completely remodeled in 2019 bringing in stone counters, new appliances, updated cabinets, and new flooring. With the adjacent dining space, your entire group can sit and enjoy a meal together.
You will love relaxing on the screen porch to visit with loved ones and listen to the sounds of Lake Michigan. Or, head down to the bluffside deck and adjacent fire pit. Here you can roast s'mores while reminiscing over times gone by and making new memories.
New beach stairs have just been installed (February 2024) and are ready for your use. Head down your private steps for a day so sun and sand on your private Lake Michigan beach. Even during the winter months, you will love heading down to the beach for daily walks and sunset views.

Please Note:
- This home is on a septic system. Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper. Flushing other items, such as feminine products, will result in a sewage backup into the showers. Please only flush toilet paper.
- This home receives water via a well. Due to the high mineral content in our area, this water smells and tastes different than city water. Those who are accustomed to city water may wish to bring bottled water for drinking.
- Please take care when in the yard near the bluff and keep an eye on children and pets. Due to erosion, the bluff is very steep.
- This home is tucked in the trees right on Lake Michigan. It is common to see animals, mice, and other vermin. The property is serviced monthly by a professional pest company, but sometimes vermin do sneak in. Please let us know right away if you see evidence of anything inside and we will send out pest control. No rate adjustments can be made for vermin in or around the house.
- The third-story loft is not included in the rental of this home. For the safety of you and your guests, the plywood stop must remain on the loft ladder at all times. If this space is used, you are doing so at your own risk and an additional fee will be charged.

Best day of my life, marrying the best person, my wife! The sunsets were spectacular, we ended up getting married inside and the view was beautiful. Highly recommend this place and we cant wait to come back. Very clean inside and out. Unpacked and enjoyed!

We had a wonderful time in Michigan! Please tell the homeowners we had a wonderful time and appreciated them sharing their home with us. The best parts of Chapmans Chapter: plenty of rooms/beds for our entire family, well stocked kitchen pantry, children toys, my husband was the keeper of the fireplace and there was plenty of dry wood in the house, the views out the windows - spectacular, the kindness showing to check out later on Sunday, and working with Mill Pond - you answered all our questions both by phone and email quickly. Overall, we had a fabulous time and YES, we most certainly would visit the area again!

Our family weekend was a wonderful time of connection and fun. The fire pit out by the edge of the property was one of our favorites. We say the sunset and the moonset. Really fabulous!

Since my son and daughter-in-law lived in Colorado, but just recently moved to Michigan, this is the first year theyve been able to join us. Got this lovely thank you note from my daughter-in-law today: "Dear Nancy & Jim, Thank you so much for hosting a wonderful Fall Weekend in Saugatuck! From the toasty fireplace to exploring the beach to watching the beautiful sunset, it was a fantastic weekend that I hope we can repeat for years to come. Thanks again, luv, Bridget" One more thing, did I mention how delightful it was to see our adult children "unplugged" (yes, they still brought Laptops, IPads and IPhones-as did I-so the homes wifi was greatly appreciated!) but for the most part, they only used them to play music or search the web for nearby attractions and/or directions. We brought our favorite family games, Scrabble and Apples to Apples...but found the Chapmans stash of games and we had an epic Uno tournament that lasted well into the evening hours!
